How much extra time do you have after working all week, taking care of kids (and spouses), shopping and so on? It’s hard to dedicate the time needed to take care of everything in a busy house and have any sanity left over, isn’t it?
I have talked with many prospective clients that tell me that they clean their own windows, or clean out their own gutters. I think that is awesome! I also know accomplishing these tasks is a major time commitment.
Quite a few times I have worked in houses cleaning windows, gutters or pressure washing and while I was working the parents took that time to play and interact with their children. That is 3 – 5 hours of additional time spent with their children. How cool is that?
I’m sure these parents weighed their alternatives and decided to hire a professional.
One alternative could have been to hire a babysitter. Another might have been to have the children self-entertain. Or, the work could be done while they were at school.
There are always alternatives. Which works best for you? Which helps you gain more sanity and feel like there are fewer than a million things that need to be done?
There are so many different tasks that a professional could help with: landscape maintenance, house cleaning, pool maintenance, and so on.
My expertise though is with window cleaning, gutter cleaning, pressure washing and similar types of work. I know these tasks take a considerable chunk of time to accomplish and there is a level of risk associated with each task.
Cleaning windows or cleaning gutters takes focus and attention to personal safety, something that is not always easy to do when your little one needs a cookie or is trying to catch a fish with the spaghetti spatula. When your mind cannot focus completely on the task at hand your chance of an accident increases. The quality of the work suffers too!
I know from experience. Many times I have been focused on the job at hand and it seems my boys knew it. They realized there would be some time to really do something fun under-the-radar. Oh the stories I could post!
My point is this: Hiring a professional to accomplish items on your “to do” list does not mean that you are not a capable person. Hiring a professional is a great way to maximize your time and have a little more time to do the things you really like to do or maybe just to be able to get to the things that still need to be done…done.
If you’re interested in getting some items off your “to do” list and get some more quality time, give us a call. Estimates are always free and painless, and we take the time to answer any questions you might have.
Here’s to more free time! Cheers!
